The Best Way to Market an e-Book
My ClickBank affiliate sales have stagnated lately but I got a pleasant surprise to see a $30.49 commission in my stats last week. When I checked, it was from a sale of the old faithful Google Cash e-Book.
This e-Book has generated me $100’s in profit since it was launched, not by me doing what the e-Book taught, but by marketing it as an affiliate. It used to be common for me to make several sales of this e-Book every week and I did no paid advertising or any work other than the one review page I wrote.
I did actually buy the book myself and simply wrote a review about it in one web page. I guess it took me up to 1 hour to do this and after that, the page just sat there selling the book 24/7 via natural search engine traffic.
This new sale got me motivated to finish a task I had been putting off. A few months ago I decided to visit Thailand and thought I would try and pay for the holiday via affiliate sales and turn it into a kind of business trip. I tracked down an e-Book that was about retiring to Asia so I contacted the author and asked for a free copy. It’s the first time I asked to be given something in return for marketing it.
Anyway, the author sent me a copy of the book.
So I set up a website for this purpose called www.asianlocations.com I wrote a couple of articles and put on the site. Also I created some inbound links. I didn’t want to start off with a sales pitch but rather provide useful information for potential travelers etc.
Well, today I finally got around to posting a review of the book and an affiliate link. The commission is low on this book but it could well pay for holidays if there are regular sales throughout the year. I should probably enhance the review with some photos, but this is a start.
You can see it here: Guide to Living and Staying in Asia This took me less than 1 hour to write, so it could be a good investment of time if it generates enough money to pay for free exotic holidays!
So if you have a blog or website, consider doing a review of an e-Book or other product to generate long-term passive income rather than just rambling on a blog. It only takes about 1 hour to complete this simple task.
When you blog, you tend to focus on generating general visitor traffic of people interested in your overall topic area and hope some of these visitors will click on your Ads, but with a review post, it’s like a landing page to pre-sell a product, so you will get some highly targeted visitors to your review that should result in sales.
